ABOUT THE ARTIST

British born artist Carly Painter is based in West Melton, near Christchurch New Zealand.

 

Having graduated with a Fine Arts honours degree from Bath Spa University College in 2001, her work has been exhibited and collected in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

 

"I take inspiration from the environment around me, where I live, the places I visit, the land, the sky, the wildlife. I aim to communicate some of the emotion and how I feel about my subject in my work; to capture some of the essence of that thing into my images. I try to capture the movement and character of a bird, or the scudding clouds of a NZ sky. I take influences from poetry or literature that I have read, I love vibrant colour and energetic brush work. I love to make images of beauty for people to enjoy."
